What is an educational qualification verification and why is it required for MOM work pass applications?
Educational qualification verification is a process conducted by an approved MOM background screening company to verify the authenticity and accuracy of qualifications submitted for Singapore work pass applications.
The completed verification report can then be submitted as verification proof in support of a Singapore work pass application. -
What checks are included in an educational qualification verification?
Our educational qualification verification service is conducted in accordance with MOM requirements and may include:
Qualification Authenticity Check
Verification that the qualification was awarded by the issuing institution through direct confirmation or an authorized verification channel.
Accreditation and Recognition Check
Assessment of whether the institution is accredited by the appropriate accreditation body or recognized by an authorized government agency in the country where it operates.
Qualification Accuracy Review
Review of the qualification information provided by the employer or candidate against information obtained during the verification process to identify any discrepancies relating to:
-
Qualification title
-
Awarding institution
-
Dates of study
-
Award status
-
Other relevant qualification details
-
-
When will an accreditation check be required?
An accreditation or recognition check may be conducted when the educational or training institution awarding the qualification is not found in MOM's database.
The purpose of the check is to determine whether the institution is accredited by the appropriate accreditation body or recognized by an authorized government agency in the country where it operates.
In some cases, institutions may be accredited only for specific programmes or qualifications. Where applicable, additional checks may be conducted with recognized accreditation authorities to confirm the accreditation or recognition status of the specific qualification awarded.
Accreditation checks are a separate service component from qualification authenticity verification. -
How long does the verification process take?
Verification timelines vary depending on the responsiveness of the awarding institution and the complexity of the verification. Most cases are completed within the timeframe typically expected for MOM verification requirements.
-
What happens if the institution does not respond?
Our verification team follows a structured outreach and escalation process when engaging awarding institutions and authorized verification sources. If verification cannot be completed despite reasonable efforts, the report will document the actions taken and the outcome of the verification attempt.
-
Can I track the status of my application?
Yes. Applicants/ Employers can monitor the progress of their verification through key status milestones from submission to report issuance by the background screening company.
-
How is my personal information protected?
All information submitted for verification is handled confidentially and used solely for verification purposes.
Our data handling practices are designed to comply with applicable privacy and data protection regulations, including the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), where applicable. -
Will MOM accept your verification report?
Yes. As an approved background screening company appointed by the MOM, our verification reports are issued in accordance with MOM's verification proof requirements for Singapore work pass applications.
Please note that while the verification report satisfies MOM's verification proof requirements, the assessment and approval of any work pass application remains solely at MOM's discretion. -
